RHS Controls upgrade 07-Jun-2018
The Royal Horticultural Society's headquarters in Vincent Square, Westminster has been a client of CEM's for two years. CEM maintain the boiler plant rooms,
air conditioning plant, BMS, water hygiene & treatment and sewerage services. This magnificent building was completed in 1906 and houses the Lindley
Library, Lindley Hall and the RHS offices.
Lindley Hall was designed by Edwin J Stebbs and was built in 1904 of red brick with stone dressings and banding, with Arts and Crafts features and Renaissance
details. His focus on achieving as much natural light as possible remains a key part of the character of the building, though complete blackout is
also possible. It is noted for its classic Edwardian architecture. The picture below shows the totally renovated entrance from the main reception and
inside the hall being prepared for London Fashion Show events.
The Lindley Library holds unique collections of early printed books on gardening, botanical art and photographs. It also holds the archives of the RHS
and personal archives of notable gardeners and garden designers. The picture below shows the refurbished entrance and reception.
CEM has recently completed phase one of the total upgrade to the BMS Trend covering the main boiler plant room, the mezzanine plant room and sewerage pits.
The total upgrade of the other BMS panels will hopefully be approved next year.
Contract Energy Management Limited was formed in 1993 and its two founding Directors are still running the company. For all of the company's existence
the core business has been looking after communal plant rooms like the ones serving the RHS.
CEM provide planned preventative maintenance contracts, remedial works and complete plant room refurbishments. On the latter we work closely with a
range of M&E consultants and also offer a full Design & Build service. A more recent development has been CEM's partnership with the global
leading manufacturer of plate heat exchangers, Alfa Laval, who appointed CEM an Authorised Service Partner three years ago and more recently a
Distributor of their HVAC products.
The Alfa Laval relationship has enabled CEM to develop business with leading players in the district heating scheme arena - e.g. Engie, E.on and Mace.
In addition, utilising Alfa Laval solutions to provide extremely efficient and cost-effective hot water solutions to a range of clients. In 2018
to date this includes a major refurbishment of Reddam School in Wokingham, St George's Hill Golf Club in Weybridge and 22-23 Down Street, Mayfair.
Currently work is underway to completely refurbish the plants rooms within three large residential blocks in Eton College Road, NW3.
